Garage door repair
Springs, cables, rollers, track, hinges and openers. We carry the common failure parts on the truck, so most repairs finish in a single visit.
What usually
goes wrong
Six failures account for nearly every residential repair call we take.
Broken spring
Springs →Door will not lift, or came down hard with a bang. The most common failure by a wide margin.
Frayed or snapped cable
Get help →The door hangs crooked or one side drops. Cables wear where they wrap the drum, and a snapped one usually takes the door out of level with it.
Door off track
Get help →Rollers out of the track, often after a cable failure or an impact. Do not run the opener — it bends the track and the section.
Noisy or seized rollers
Maintenance →Grinding, squealing and a door that shudders. Nylon rollers on bearings run far quieter than the steel rollers most doors ship with.
Damaged section
Panels →Backed into it, or the bottom section has rusted. Often one panel rather than the whole door.
Opener fault
Openers →Reverses before closing, runs but the door does not move, or nothing at all. Frequently the sensors rather than the motor.
We look at the
whole opening
Garage door parts fail as a system. A spring at the end of its cycle count puts extra load on the cables and the opener; a door out of balance wears rollers and strips opener gears. Fixing only the part that broke often means seeing you again in four months.
So every repair call includes a balance check and a look at the cables, drums, rollers, hinges and safety sensors. If something else is close to failing we tell you, with a price, and you decide whether to do it now or later.
Not sure what broke?
Call and describe what the door is doing and what you heard. That is usually enough to know what the truck needs to bring.
Common questions
Do you repair doors you did not install?
Yes. Most of our repair work is on doors installed by someone else. We service every major manufacturer.
Is it worth repairing an old door or should I replace it?
If the sections are sound and the door is balanced, repair is almost always the better value. Replacement makes sense when multiple sections are damaged or rusted through, or when the door is uninsulated and sits against living space.
How fast can you come out?
We work weekdays on a schedule and get most repair calls out within a day or two. If a car is trapped inside, say so when you call and we will work around it.
Do you charge a service call fee?
Estimates are free. For a diagnostic visit on an existing problem we will explain any charge on the phone before we come out, so nothing is a surprise.
